About Me

Heather McFall
My name is Heather McFall and I’m the person behind perennialtouring. I am a Northumbria Blue Badge Tourist Guide, a Durham City Guide and an accredited Durham Cathedral Guide, with many years experience in the tourism industry both here and worldwide.
In addition I’m also a qualified horticulturalist, which I find dovetails with my work as a tourist guide, allowing me to offer bespoke gardening tours to clients.
If I’m not out guiding or sharing my horticultural skills with clients, you will find me working on my own garden.
My working life has been varied, leading historical and horticultural tours to worldwide destinations for many years. My ‘horticultural hat’ has given me the opportunity to get my hands dirty working as part of a gardening team or sole gardener at privately owned regional and national gardens which are open to the public. I have also been involved with a huge restoration project of an Italian estate, where in addition to being part of the gardening team, I was interpretation and tour guide for the site, alongside running a children’s nature group.
Returning back to my native North East, an area I am very passionate about. I feel very lucky to live and work in such a beautiful area. Let perennialtouring help you experience what the region has to offer…
I can offer a meet and greet service, bespoke tailor made tours, or I can carry out your own themed tours or if time is tight a general tour. I also offer an accompanying role with inward investment projects. If your plans are taking you further afield, I can also offer a full guided touring service of the UK/Europe.
I also deliver workshops and talks. If you have a specific query please fill in this contact form.
